Dr. Richards is a highly experienced psychiatrist with over a decade of experience in both Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry. She received her MD at the University of Arkansas Medical School.  She completed her training at the University of Vermont Medical Center where she became an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry.  She has a strong history of inpatient mental health care and has run both Child & Adolescent and Adult units.  As Chief Medical Officer of the Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital, she transformed the culture of care to a person-centered approach. She was also appointed the Interim Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs at the University of Vermont Medical Center for the Department of Psychiatry while also being an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont.  Most recently she has served in a role as the Director of Psychiatry for Vermont Department of Corrections.  She is board-certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Richards is renown for her active and empathetic listening skills.

 

Dr. Richards is passionate about women's mental health and the positive impact that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) can have on her patients' lives.  She has completed training in BHRT at the Academy of Preventive & Innovative Medicine and is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner and a member of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS).
